Some aircraft do not offer internet coverage outside of the continental U.S. Also, internet video clips and streaming services from providers such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO®, YouTube, Vevo, etc., are not supported.

*If you are on a United Express® flight, follow these steps to use your Wi-Fi subscription. Prior to takeoff, ensure you have the latest version of the United app downloaded and are signed in. To activate your Wi-Fi subscription, use the in-app authentication.
Subscription purchase and use:
- Subscriptions are nonrefundable and non-transferrable. Partial refunds are available in the event that Wi-Fi is inoperable on a flight.
- Subscriptions are valid for the term indicated on the receipt provided at the time of purchase of the subscription.
- The United Wi-Fi subscription only applies to internet access on flights operated by United or United Express® that depart within the applicable subscription period and region. When using the internet on another airline, you will be subject to the other airline’s internet policies and fees.
- Operating bandwidth is not guaranteed for any level of service purchased and is dependent on several factors including but not limited to the number of internet users on the aircraft and the number of aircraft in the nearby area. Satellite coverage may experience outages for reasons such as government regulations, weather and switching between satellite regions. 737 aircraft and aircraft equipped with DIRECTV® will only have satellite coverage within the continental U.S. On two-cabin regional aircraft, internet availability is limited to the continental United States and Canada. - Streaming services are not currently included in your United Wi-FiSM subscription. However, for a limited time, you may have access to streaming capabilities at no additional charge on select aircraft such as the Boeing 737 MAX 9. In the future, United reserves the right to charge an additional fee for access to streaming services.
- Use of United Wi-Fi is subject to the inflight Wi-Fi terms and conditions.
- All United Wi-Fi subscription purchases are final and non-refundable. Refunds can be requested in the event that Wi-fi is intermittent or non-functioning on a given flight.
- Subscriptions may only be used by the subscriber on a flight and on one device at a time. Your subscription is non-transferable and it is against our policy for your subscription to be used on a flight that you are not on.
- The subscriber’s MileagePlus® number must be used when signing in to the United Wi-Fi Portal on board to use the subscription.
- Subscription prices are subject to change without notice.
- United reserves the right to amend, cancel or modify these terms and conditions and pricing at any time without notice.
- MileagePlus reserves the right to establish or change eligibility criteria for using miles to purchase Wi-Fi or a United Wi-Fi subscription. Each member must have sufficient miles in his or her MileagePlus account to complete the transaction. Your miles will be deducted at the time of purchase. In the event that miles have not properly debited from your account at the time of redemption, miles can be debited by MileagePlus at any time. Miles redemptions may only be made from a single account per transaction. You may not combine miles from two or more accounts on a single transaction. No MileagePlus award miles will be awarded in connection with any transaction made using MileagePlus miles. Miles accrued, awards, and benefits issued are subject to change and are subject to the rules of the United MileagePlus program, including without limitation the Premier® program (the “MileagePlus Program”), which are expressly incorporated herein. United may change the MileagePlus Program including, but not limited to, rules, regulations, travel awards and special offers or terminate the MileagePlus Program at any time and without notice.
- Subscriptions may not be sold by anyone other than United. Any Subscriptions sold by a party other than United are void, and United reserves the right to take any or all of the following actions in connection with a third-party sale of a Subscription: 1) invalidate the Subscription; 2) assess the traveler for the actual value of the services obtained through use of the Subscription; 3) delete miles in the traveler’s MileagePlus account or take any other action permitted by the Rules for MileagePlus Program; and 4) take legal action against the traveler or third-party seller of the Subscription.
Subscription changes:
- Subscribers can change the geographic region where they want to use a subscription from the North and Central America region to Global at anytime. However, they will need to pay the difference in subscription fees if applicable.
- Subscribers cannot switch from a Global subscription to a North and Central America subscription.
- A subscription is valid for one month or year, whichever is applicable, from the time it is purchased or changed.
- Any unused value from the previous annual subscription will be applied to the cost of the new annual subscription. For monthly subscriptions, no residual value will be applied to the new monthly subscription.
Annual Subscriptions:
- Annual subscriptions will be automatically renewed 30 days prior to their expiration unless auto-renew is turned off.
- Annual subscribers will be charged for renewal 30 days prior to the subscription’s expiration to the form of payment on file at the price effective on that day.
- Subscribers who do not want to renew their annual subscriptions should cancel auto-renewal more than 30 days prior to the subscription’s expiration date in the My Account page.
Monthly Subscriptions:
- Monthly subscriptions will be automatically renewed on the date of expiration unless auto-renew is turned off.
- Monthly subscribers will be charged for renewal on the date of the subscription’s expiration to the form of payment on file at the price effective on that day.
Gift activation:
- Gifts must be activated within 60 days of purchase. Gifts not activated within 60 days are automatically activated and expire one year from the date of activation for annual subscriptions and 30 days from the date of activation for monthly subscriptions.
Termination:
- The subscription offer is made at United’s discretion and is subject to change or terminate at any time without notice.
When can I start using my United Wi-Fi subscription?
After you purchase a subscription, it may take up to 24 hours to process before it can be used on board.
Where can I use my United Wi-Fi subscription?
When you purchase a Wi-Fi subscription, you can choose North and Central America or Global as your subscribed region. Where Wi-Fi internet is offered, the North and Central America subscription allows customers to enjoy Wi-Fi internet access during travel within North America and Central America, and the Global subscription provides Wi-Fi internet access for travel all over the world. With a North and Central America subscription, your Wi-Fi internet access will depend on your origin and destination cities. If your origin or destination city is outside of this region, you may not be able to access your United Wi-Fi subscription for that flight.

Can I receive a refund for my United Wi-Fi subscription purchase?
All United Wi-Fi subscription purchases are final. The subscription is non-refundable and non-transferable.
I have a Wi-Fi subscription but had to pay for Wi-Fi on my last flight. Can I get a refund?
Yes. Go to the Help centeropens in a new tab, select “Refunds and Customer Care”, then “Refunds in progress”. Sign in to your account to request a refund. Once approved, your refund should be sent to the original form of payment within 14 days.
If I recently purchased United Wi-Fi access on a flight, can I apply that purchase toward the cost of a United Wi-Fi subscription?
Previous United Wi-Fi purchases cannot be used toward the purchase of a United Wi-Fi subscription.
How do I use my United Wi-Fi subscription?
Connect to the “United_Wi-Fi” network and go to www.unitedwifi.com.. Sign in to your MileagePlus account or look for the “Subscriber sign-in” links.
Is my United Wi-Fi subscription purchase valid on all flights?
The United Wi-Fi subscription is valid, within your subscribed region, on United- and United Express®-operated flights equipped with Wi-Fi. To determine if your flight offers Wi-Fi, you can check the Amenities section in the United app or the Inflight Amenities tab on the Flight Status & Information page within 24 hours before departure.\r\n
On United Express flights, you will need to have the latest version of the United app downloaded and signed in before your flight takes off. You can activate your Wi-Fi subscription via the United app using the in-app authentication.
Can I share my United Wi-Fi internet access with other people?
No, you can only use your Wi-Fi subscription on your flight and on one device at a time. Your subscription is non-transferable and it is against our policy for your subscription to be used on a flight that you are not on.
Can I use my United Wi-Fi subscription if my final destination is outside my subscribed region?
When you purchase a United Wi-Fi subscription, you can choose North and Central America or Global as your subscribed region. If you purchase a North and Central America subscription and your origin or destination city is outside of this region, you will need to purchase separate Wi-Fi internet access for that flight if you want to connect to the internet.
What areas are included in the North and Central America subscription?
With a North and Central America subscription, you can use your subscription if your origin and destination cities are in the United States (including Alaska and Hawaii), Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Central American countries (Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama). Your North and Central America subscription is not valid on any flights to or from South America. Where can I manage my subscription after purchase?
You can go to the My Account page on united.com to manage your subscription, make changes or renew. Your annual Wi-Fi subscription is automatically set up to auto-renew.
Can I change my subscription from North and Central America to a Global subscription?
You can change your subscription from North and Central America to Global at any time on the My Account page. Changing your subscription will extend its duration for another month or year, whichever is applicable. For monthly subscriptions, no residual value is applied to the new monthly subscription. For annual subscriptions, we’ll automatically apply any remaining value of your existing subscription to the cost of the new subscription and you will be required to pay any remaining value for the new subscription. Please note that when changing annual subscriptions to a higher level, the original form of payment will be used. (If you used miles to purchase the annual subscription initially, miles will need to be used for the new subscription; if a credit card was used initially, a credit card will need to be used for the new subscription). Subscribers will need to pay the difference in subscription fees if applicable when switching from a North and Central American subscription to a Global subscription.
Can I change my annual subscription from Global to a North and Central America subscription?
No, at this time, you cannot switch from a Global subscription to a North and Central America subscription.
Will my subscription auto-renew?
Yes, we offer the option for automatic renewal of Wi-Fi subscriptions so that there is no disruption in service. If auto-renew is selected, annual subscriptions will be automatically renewed 30 days prior to the expiration date to the form of payment on file at the price effective that day. Monthly subscriptions will be automatically renewed on the expiration date to the form of payment on file at the price effective that day. If you do not want to renew your Wi-Fi subscription, please cancel your renewal more than 30 days prior to the expiration date of your subscription in the My Account page. The My Account page also offers the possibility to change the form of payment used for auto-renew and toggle your auto-renew setting on or off.
When will my subscription be auto-renewed?
Annual subscriptions will be automatically renewed 30 days prior to the expiration date, to the form of payment on file at the price effective that day. Monthly subscriptions will be automatically renewed on the date of expiration, to the form of payment on file at the price effective on that day.
Can I turn auto-renew off?
Yes, you can turn off auto-renew from the My Account page.
Will I receive an email about my subscription?
Yes, we will send you an email confirming that your subscription was renewed. Please note that renewal prices are subject to change. Email notifications will be distributed prior to price changes.
Can I purchase a Wi-Fi subscription as a gift for someone?
Yes, select the “Give as a gift” button when making your purchase.
What should I do if I receive a United Wi-Fi subscription as a gift?
Visit the Gift Activation page to apply the subscription to your MileagePlus account. Gifts must be activated within 60 days of purchase. Gifts not activated within 60 days are automatically activated and expire one year from the date of activation for annual subscriptions and 30 days from the date of activation for monthly subscriptions.
What if I already have a United Wi-Fi subscription and then receive one as a gift?
You can deposit the value of the gifted subscription into your United Travel Bank account as an electronic fund that can be applied toward any United or United Express flight or subscription purchase on united.com.
