Secure Flight

Secure Flight is a program developed by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to make domestic and international air travel more secure.

How to comply

To comply with the TSA's Secure Flight program, you must give us some personal information when you book a flight. This information must match what is on the government-issued photo ID you use to travel:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Gender
  • Redress Control Number (optional)
  • Known Traveler Number (optional)

We will submit this information to the TSA, who will perform watch list matching to prevent people on the No Fly List from boarding a plane. The TSA also uses this data to identify people on the Selectee List for enhanced screening.

You can save time at checkout by adding this information to your MileagePlus account.

Make the process easier

The Department of Homeland Security has programs you can join to speed up your Secure Flight screening:

Traveler Redress Inquiry Program

If you think you’ve been matched to a name on the watch list by accident, you can apply for the Department of Homeland Security Traveler Redress Inquiry Program (DHS TRIP). If you’re accepted, you will get a Redress Control Number to add to your reservations so you’re not misidentified in the future.

For more information, visit the DHS TRIP page.

Trusted Traveler Programs

Members of the Department of Homeland Security’s Trusted Traveler Programs, like TSA PreCheck® and Global Entry®, can add their Known Traveler Number to their reservation to prevent watch list matching errors. The number will be entered into the TSA’s Secure Flight system and used during the pre-screening process.

For more information, visit the DHS Trusted Traveler Programs page.

Passenger privacy

Keeping your personal data safe is important to us and the TSA. It is collected, used, distributed, stored, and disposed of in accordance with strict guidelines and all applicable privacy laws and regulations.

We may use Secure Flight information as described in our privacy policy. As a customer, you consent to the use of your Secure Flight information for these purposes.
