How to make the most out of a day off in Las Vegas

In 2023, the Sphere transformed the skyline and Formula 1 roared down the Strip. Then, the Super Bowl kicked off at Allegiant Stadium. Clearly, Las Vegas is having a big moment. The city has so many new restaurants, museums and experiences to explore. So, skip that meeting and have some fun.

9 a.m. Eat breakfast at 1228 Main

If you’re waking up in Vegas, you might need some carbs to recover your energy. At 1228 Main, which is in the Arts District, try one of their homemade breakfast sandwiches (you can’t go wrong with bacon, eggs and cheese).

10 a.m. Rock out at The Punk Rock Museum

Still reminiscing about Blink-182 and NOFX on the 1996 Warped Tour? Relive the magic at The Punk Rock Museum, which NOFX’s Fat Mike opened downtown. Visitors can admire Misfits posters, play Joan Jett’s guitar—or even get married. Check the monthly schedule of punk celebrity tour guides too. They’ve even had Alice Bag from the Bags and Matt Pinfield from ’90s MTV.

11:30 a.m. Immerse yourself in nature at Arte Museum

Take a cab to the Strip and the Arte Museum. This immersive, digital art experience is from the South Korean company District with themed exhibits. One exhibit, Eternal Nature, let visitors wander through rooms experiencing gushing waterfalls, crashing waves, blooming flowers and more.

1:30 p.m. Eat lunch at Peter Luger

Get a taste of Brooklyn by grabbing the lunch-only burger at Peter Luger. This legendary steak house opened an outpost at Caesars Palace in November. An apple strudel with tons of schlag is the correct dessert order.

3:30 p.m. View the Sphere from The Venetian Resort

If you’re staying at The Venetian Resort, change into your swimsuit and head to the pool deck. It got a major makeover recently, so enjoy the infinity pool with a cocktail in hand. From there, you can watch the Sphere transform with dazzling graphics on the exterior.

7 p.m. Eat dinner at Chef Eyal Shani’s HaSalon

Sticking around the Venetian to enjoy the blackjack tables? Your dinner reservation is just steps away, at chef Eyal Shani’s HaSalon. You may need your server to translate the poetic menu (unless you know what “mushroom colony steak lying on its dark forests blood” is), but everything is delicious.

9 p.m. See a WoW – The Vegas Spectacular performance

End the night with an unforgettable show at the Rio.
