United Wi-Fi and Portal Terms and Conditions

You must comply with crew instructions, including when asked to turn off and store all devices. Portal Services are those Wi-Fi services that are housed on the aircraft and Internet Services are Wi-Fi services accessed via the worldwide web.

United Internet access charges are per aircraft from take-off to landing. Inflight Internet access charges are non-refundable. However, we do our best to provide automatic refunds due to significant service failures. If you experience a significant service failure and have not received an automatic refund, one may be requested at united.com/refunds. Internet access charges are subject to change at any time. You must be permitted to use and therefore authorize United Airlines to charge the credit card provided in order to access the Internet.

Operating bandwidth is not guaranteed for any level of service purchased and is dependent on several factors including but not limited to the number of Internet users on the aircraft and the number of aircraft in the nearby area. Downloading of large amounts of data or content or streaming video content by any user may be throttled based on available bandwidth. VPN access may be intermittent and require multiple log-ins, depending on the VPN provider, due to very brief losses in connectivity.

You agree not to use this Internet connection for any illegal or improper purposes, to spread viruses or malware or to disrupt or unnecessarily afflict hardship on the system. You also agree not to use the Internet to view material that is unsuitable for minors, otherwise inappropriate or offensive or for VOIP (Voice over internet protocol) phone calls.

You agree not to share your access to the Internet connection with another passenger either through your own device or by linking/tethering your connected device to another passenger's device. You understand that you are using a public Internet connection and should take all precautions for the security of your device and information when using the Internet service. United is not liable for intercepted transactions/data at any point including but not limited to when access to the Internet is granted. You understand that United is not liable for any harm done to your device if you advertently or inadvertently download any malicious software while using the Internet service. Anti-virus software is recommended.

You understand that in order to use the Internet service you must provide either your MileagePlus sign-on credentials or a name and email address and that all information provided to United must be truthful and accurate. Customer information will only be displayed if United can positively identify the information given at log in by the user. To personalize your experience when using the United Portal and Internet service, some of your customer information relating to your current itinerary will be displayed if United can confirm and match your identity with our MileagePlus and/or Reservations systems. Some customer-specific information will be retrieved from United's MileagePlus database and displayed if the MileagePlus number is used to successfully log in to the Internet service. All flight, booking, and arrival information displayed in the Portal is subject to change. Users are advised to check united.com, airport signage or with an airport agent upon arrival for the most up-to-date information. United's inflight Internet access and Portal are optimized for the most popular devices and operating systems and may not be accessible on all devices/operating systems.

There are no charges to connect to the Internet on Starlink equipped aircraft. However, you must be a MileagePlus member, or sign up to join MileagePlus, to obtain free Internet access. There is no fee to become a member of MileagePlus.
