Discover India with flights to Delhi and Mumbai.
Visit Delhi
- Tour the Red Fort Complex, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Start at the Hall of Private Audience (Diwan-i-Khas) where the walls are inlaid with precious and semi-precious stones, see majestic arches in the Hall of Public Audience (Diwan-i-Amn) and take in the gilded ceiling and exquisitely carved decorations of the Private Palace (Khas Mahal).
- Explore Jama Masjid, India’s largest mosque. Walk through the massive gates and view the impressive architecture. As prayer hour draws close, stay near the mosque — tourists aren’t allowed during prayer hour — and listen to the muezzins calling the faithful to prayer.
- Visit the National Museum - New Delhi. Start at the Harappan Civilization exhibit, then explore the wood carvings and armor before viewing Indian art through the ages.
Fly to Mumbai
- Start at the Gateway of India, Mumbai’s most popular attraction. Walk underneath its awe-inspiring arches, then stroll along the promenade or opt for a peaceful boat ride. Afterward, find a restaurant and order the Bombay duck (bombil), which is actually fried fish.
- See the three-headed Mahesamurti at Elephanta Caves, located on an island just a few minutes from the heart of Mumbai. Venture deeper into the cave complex to view the sculptures of Nataraja Shiva and Andhakari-Murti and hike up Cannon Hill to see the fort ruins.
- Spend time at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), one of India’s premier history and art museums. Discover the country’s diverse wildlife at the Natural History Gallery, then go to the Textiles Gallery to view brilliantly-colored silks and tapestries. Stop by the Sculptures Gallery and take in the intricate stone carvings.
